Strabismus is an eye problem that is more common in children.
Its prevalence in the society is around 4%. Strabismus in adult patients can be treated as successfully as in children.
Many people with strabismus apply for strabismus treatment because their social life is affected more than the health problem.
Treatment of strabismus is divided into two:
- Eye misalignment that occur in childhood
- Subsequent eye misalignment
Subsequent eye misalignments are inward shifts. Inward eye misalignment is called Esotropia.
An outward eye misalignment is called Exotropia.
The most common type of eye misalignment in adults is Exotopia. These misalignments usually occur in childhood and gradually begin to increase.
In some of the eye misalignments, the vision of the eye is also low, the person usually uses one eye and can continue his life comfortably.
How is eye misalignment treatment performed in adults?
Ocular misalignment in adults can be treated successfully and should not be neglected. Unfortunately, misaligned eyes may recur. If the operation does not provide sufficient recovery, this disease may recur.
For this reason, it is very important that misaligned eye surgery in adults or children is performed with care and complete correction is very important to prevent recurrence.
